Can't login as ADMIN
05/14/08 at 18:16:38

I saw a previous post where someone mentioned deleting their user id and recreating from ADMIN so that they would have all of the current menus/programs after every IS update.  I thought that would be a great idea, so I wanted to try it.  I exited Evo and re-launched & tried to login to Evo as ADMIN to delete my user id and it won't let me in.  After entering the user id ADMIN and p/w, the "Loading ISTechSupport Evolution...." box with the Knight-Rider/Cylon animation on it appears and then immediately I get an Information box that states "The menu items haven't been setup yet. Please run WBKMENUSETUP.RWN first."  Once I click OK, Evo closes.  This only happens on the ADMIN uid.  I can log in as myself fine.

Has something in the Admin user record gotten corrupted?  Is there a utility to allow me to rebuild it?  Anyone had this happen before; if so, any ideas?  I know ADMIN worked in the past, but it's been a few weeks or since I used it, so I can't pinpoint exactly when it stopped working.

Thanks!
Chris

I got to thinking about what I may have done to have caused this (since I've discovered that I am sometimes my own worst enemy!).  I remembered a few weeks ago I moved all of the TXT files out of the DBA directory with the intention of deleting all of the junk.  I got this hint off of the user forum as a way to speed up some directly file lists on DBA since Windows would not have to sort through and filter all of the unnecessary files.

So, since I had not yet deleted the segregated TXT files (thank goodness!), I sorted them by date and noticed a file named BKMENUSU.TXT.  When I opened it there was what looked like menu configuration info.  So, I copied the file back to the DBA directory and TA-DAH!  I can now login as Admin.

So, as usual, it was my own monkeying around with things I didn't entirely understand that caused this.  Wanted to post this in case anyone else ever gets in this situation so that they know how to fix it.   undecided

There is a great post by Lynn on Database cleanup under "General DBA topics" (I think that is the wording) that tells you which file you can get rid of.
