REMOTE DESKTOP/TERMINAL SERVICES (Read 6467 times)

IT-CB-BADGER Browser I Love YaBB 2! Posts: 10 Gender:	REMOTE DESKTOP/TERMINAL SERVICES 07/01/08 at 14:48:13 i just got my hand held up and running on our wireless server, does anyone have any advice on how to use the remote desktop or terminal services so i can access an evo account?

Hi,

I received this from Lynn some time ago. Hope it helps you.

"Anything that is included on the ADMIN HH Menu will work on a DC license. The way you need to set the HH Units up is to log into the TS Profile and load Evo the normal way, then go to UT-A, program EVODCSETUP. That will run a workstation setup and create a desktop icon that will load the HH Menu which will take up a DC seat rather than a regular seat count. Then edit the user HH menu to include whichever programs you want them to use. The DC Menu is limited to run only the programs on the ADMIN HH Menu. Then use Remote Desktop using the HH unit and connect and launch the menu."

I'm pretty sure that remote desktop essentially IS terminal server except for one very important point: You get just one session. The point of terminal server is to run the same program on the same machine for multiple users. Remote desktop lets you run programs on one machine for one user on a different machine. Not quite what you are looking for I'd imagine.

It depends on how it will be used. If a single user is going to get up from his desk and go to the parts crib and scan some material issues, then Remote Desktop back to his own workstation will work fine. But for multiple users who don't each have a desktoip to connect to, Collin is correct, you will need Terminal Server.

There actually is a way to use one desktop XP Pro machine to be accessed by multiple users concurrently using remote access.
I have set up such a machine by modifying the registry etc using the instructions from the following link:

They are $130 each. The attached to the back of a monitor and they don't need a server or a terminal service license. one regular PC running windows XP pro will run up to 25 ncomputing terminals!
