ECO, revision, printing on WO
04/07/10 at 08:44:43

Hello,
I was wondering if there is a way to  have the ECO list (& print) all of the documents/revisions for a part. The problem is that we have more than one document for a part (i.e. mechanical drawing, schematic, work instructions) & the revisions aren't the same. Say we change a mounting screw, it doesn't affect the schematic, so the rev of the schematic doesn’t change. I hoping I can use the ECO function to solve this problem. Can I? or doesn't anyone have suggestions as to how i can address our problem?

Thanks,
Kelly

I Take it you are using the Links, for lnking what documents print, and what module they print on, and adding the appropriate documentation to print for a given item?
if you do assign all those documents, they would not be predicated on the ECO rev, ergo, if you wanted to print earlier rev docs, you'd have to relink them.
however, linking the documents as part of your ECO process, then that would require the reviewer in necessitating which ones are to print, and which docs are to be replaced to meet the ECO requirements.

dameng,
No we don't use the links. The guy who prints the work orders manually finds the drawing(s) on our server. I guess he’s tried the using links & because we switch server so frequently & not every is mapped the same way it didn’t work.
Right now as is we list all reference documents in the BOM notes (that’s how he knows what needs to be printed).  We’ve tried listing the revisions of the documents there (as well) but it frequently is forgotten.
Thanks for replying, I know there has to be a better way…
