Import Inventory with "Entered Date"

We are trying to import our inventory items from another program into DBA, while still retaining data which is important to us such as initial product entry date (not import date) and entered user.

It is my understanding that this information is stored in 2 fields in the inventory table: PROD_VEND[9] and PROD_VNAM[9].  The problem is DE-B does not allow those fields for import.

Does anyone have a way to import inventory items while assigning an "entered date" in PROD_VEND[9] and the associated history data in PROD_VNAM[9]?

Alternatively, does anyone have a BETTER way of getting this information into DBA?

yes, it can be done thru an ODBC connection and using a SQL manager.

I'd suggest using the DE-B import for al the data that you can import, so that way the program can update all required fields as well as perform proper error checking. after those steps are completed, then use an external SQL manager to import and relate your extra data you desire.

Thanks Dave.  We will try this method of SQL manager.  Appreciate the suggestions, this will hopefully save us some time and frustration.
