Windows Server 2011
05/24/11 at 15:42:06

Hi,

Our network support person is suggesting we upgrade to Server 2011 later this year.

We currently run EVO and PSQL v10 on a Windows Server 2003.

Are there any known issues / problems / traps for young players with upgrading to Server 2011?

Thanks

To be honest, we haven't even tested it yet.  Server 2008 is fine although there are some security tricks you may need to play.  Most of the real Windows compatibility issues are related to Pervasive so I would check the Pervasive website and I don't see any reference to Server 2011 yet.  Wait for them to come out with a OS Compatibility Listing that includes the OS you want to go to.

I will never suggest to upgrade to an OS that hasn't even released. Has your network support person test Pervasive and Evo on this "Server 2011"??
No he hasnt. So why is he suggesting it?????  lips sealed

There are millions of companies running Windows NT, Windows 2003, where Pervasive and Evo work great.

If you want to upgrade still, buy Windows Server 2008.

Enough is enough, Microsoft is trying to push a new OS every year!!
What Server 2011 does that 2008 doesnt?

Does it bake cookies??

We must replace our server and to get MS Exchange with our new server software we must purchase Microsoft SBS Server 2011.  I have been told that the underlying server software is 2008R2.  Before I spend this money, I also needed to know what Pervasive was compatible with.  After talking with them this AM, they only support PSQLv11 which is compatible with SBS 2011.  PSQL has not been tested on SBS 2011 and will not be in the future.

Now the question is, is DBA/EVOERP compatible with PSQLv11?

Thanks for your help!

It should read:

PSQLv10 has not been tested on SBS 2011 and will not be in the future.

Thanks again,
