Time for a Symposium?
03/02/12 at 20:01:02

Leap Day reminded us that the last Symposium was back in 2008 in Las Vegas.  We have added a lot since then including updated GUI versions of many programs, Triggers and Reminders, updated Contact Manager, JAVA programs (BM-N & SH-R with new GL-R in development).  Is it time for another gathering?  Any votes for where?  Virtual gathering with WebEx?

I would be interested. We have just been keeping up with DBA to the bare minimum but now that we are working on staying around we'd like to take advantage of whatever new things we can, and it's a lot of work to go back and try to figure out what changes there ARE, what changes there CAN BE and the impacts of all of them. Of course, I would prefer the northeast. Southern NH or Eastern Mass seems like relatively logical location.

I'll second a north east locale. FHC is preparing to move away from DBA/Evo, but a symposium might be a good place to look for new opportunities.  Cool

Another year later, and we haven't done anything.  Thinking about late March but where?

Sunny Southern California (was 36 degrees this morning...)?  Tahiti (sure!)?  Texas or Florida?   Or some cold (but well populated) northern location?

Assuming my schedule allowed it, I'd almost certainly attend a NorthEast one, and possibly one anywhere else in the country depending on a lot of other factors.

I personally don't see a webex one working unless it's predominantly classroom content. One of the most valuable aspects of a conference/symposium of any industry IMO is the face to face with random others. That's hard to do via webex.

Mark your calendar, April 15-17 in Las Vegas.  Details to follow in an email next week.  We agree with David, a big part of the symposium is the face to face contact.
