As business today leans further away from printing, then mailing or faxing in favor of emailing, the contact manager should become more integrated to that end. We have different contacts for different job junctions in both Sales and Vendors. The new contacts in Sales is great help in that it expanded the number of contacts but doesn't do much to lessen confusion or get documents to the right person in emailing. In the old days of faxing, a cover sheet usually directed the document to the right department or person because most companies had one fax line and someone on the receiving end would take care of getting it where it needed to go, be it quality, sales, accounting, shipping or whatever. It seems to me that rather than assign a primary contact in the contact manager as a general contact for all these different job functions, that a code letter could be used instead to link for example "print invoices" to the "accounts payable" contact in the contact manager. That would work in conjunction with another setting (added to the customer or vendor settings) to select whether to print forms to printer or to email as the default. What do you all think?
