Is anyone using Miscrosoft Project?
12/03/13 at 07:03:43
We're starting to track long lead projects using MS project. We're also using ODBC connections to pull Evo data into Excel. Before I re-invent the wheel, does anyone have a spreadsheet that extracts from Evo specifically for import into Project?
Thanks in advance!

The easy part is to get the data from dba.
The problem is to link the excel columns with ms project's fields
I tried to do it once, got some success but I abandoned the project.
If you would like to collaborate please let me know.

I might. We've just bought Project 2013 and it looks as though the mappings will be retained once they are initially created. I'll play with it and post a spreadsheet. The real benefit I'm looking for is updating actual labor completion and cost data to update the project status. We have customers who live and die by Project. If we make ourselves easy to work with, we all win.
Thanks!

I just took a look to the new MS Project 2013.
It comes with its own Import Wizard, something that older version did not have.
So it seems that the field mapping is way much easier now.
So what type of data do you need?

We have not invested any significant time in the project yet. We got pulled into some high visibility, short-lead projects and it hasn't reached the top of my list yet. I have been working a whole lot with ODBC extracts. It is clearly possible. The biggest challenge I encountered was determining exactly what data Project needs to have populated. Ironically, the Evo extract piece is the easy one. Let me know if you tackle it. I'd be interested in collaborating.
