Eureka!
I think we figured this out.  If you have your US-A default set to EVO view and opening list then you must tab down into the date or address to see the lines.  If you choose the line tab just because the SO is loaded you will get nothing on the line items.    This is not true if you have the opening list turned off.  If you have opening list turned off then you can call up the number and immediately touch the line tab and see the lines.  
 
This could be dangerous!   If you call up a Sales Order with your default set to EVOview and opening screen you can touch the line item tab.   If you SAVE rather than exit you could/might delete all your lines and now have a zero balance.   edit:  the lines are not always deleted.  I

change the year to access " Whats New" for previous years/  may be a better way but i haven't discovered it yet
