Report: Sales By State
04/17/03 at 14:13:02

We are new to DBA, so this question may have a simple answer that we are overlooking:

How can we produce a monthly report that shows sales by state? We attempted to use SO-O-K but ended up running in circles.

Any advice before we call DBA?

Thanks in advance.

SO-O-J and SO-O-K User Defined report Type (Do a lookup on the Report Type, it defaults to Customer type) would give you open orders and SA-M & N (same type) would work for items already shipped.  Depends which you are looking for.  With the User Defined report type, you can sort and subtotal by either Bill or Ship to State

Thanks for the prompt reply, Lynn. We found the SO-.. and SA-.. screens and managed to get a sales report that was sorted by Bill-To state.

I guess a better question would be, how do we get the actual state ID (CA for California, for example) to display on the printed report?  Additionally, we made a copy of the BKS....RTM form (called it TEST) and tried to modify it to include a state field, but we were unsure where in DBA to find this data to include it in the report.

Finally, we're curious if its possible to edit fields in this manner or if we'd be better off just exporting the data to Crystal, etc... and if so, how do we identify which DBA dataset contains the sales data?

Thanks again for your expert advice!

You cannot add fields to RTM's.  I think Lynn has plans for user-defined reports that will be much more flexible.

For now, Crystal is excellent at creating those kind of reports.  You don't have to export anything as it reads straight from DBA data.

Use maintain database to browse files for fields you want.  There is no master index but it isn't too hard to find things.  You can also print all file names from somewhere in the Help index.  I keep them in a binder for browsing.

Of you can open the source code for screens and reports and locate file names that way. (There is a thread under the Crystal topic that deals with this.)

Bill-to and Ship-to Customers and Addresses are in the BKARHINV.B** File for processed sales orders.

Sales Order Detail is in the BKARINVL.B** File.
