System speed
05/21/03 at 10:37:33

Recently had a drastic drop in system speed for things like running a sales and bookings report, or issuing work orders, etc.  I have defragged the hard drive on the server, fixed binary zero's, reconciled inventory, updated to 2003.4, and reindexed all files.  The server is just as slow as the workstations as it turns out so I dont think this is a network issue.  Any ideas out there?

Did you just install antivirus software like McAfee or Norton?

No new software.  Lynn was telling me that I may be having problems because our server is running Windows ME.  We have used this PC as a server for over a year now with no real problems.  My speed issue is not system wide.  We run a sales and bookings report every day for the days shippments.  This is a report that usually fits on one page.  It use to take a few minutes to compile and now It can tie up a machine for 20-30 minutes.  It eventually finishes and prints but I dont get it.

Well ME was never intended to be a server operating system.  Upgrade that to 2000 or XP Pro and you will quite likely find that your problem goes away.

Lorne is right that ME could be the problem.   It's a miserable operating system.   However, how much open drive space is there on that system?  If it's less than 20% you will be slow until you free up some space.
