Expense account with beginning balance

I just realized one of my expense accounts (net sales) has a beginning balance as of July 1st. Our fiscal year end is June 30. How did this happened and how can I fix it?

Use UT-K-D to rebuild the account and then UT-A, GLEREDO to regenerate the YE Closing entries for all Income and Expense accounts.
