DBA Version 2002.4 upgrade
02/01/04 at 19:11:29

We have recently upgraded to 2002.4 and have a problem with service purchase orders. We are unable to change the Purchase order Type field to Type "S" where necessary. We cannot access the field to change the order type. I have checked PO Defaults and "Allow Service PO's" is set to "Y".
Prior to the upgrade "S" type orders worked perfectly.

Try changing the Allow Service PO to N and save, then change back to Y and save.  Sounds like the setting isn't taking for some reason.  If that doesn't work, may have to use Maintain Database ti change the settng.

Lynn,
FYI: we had same problem.  Your solution worked here too.

OOPS, I spoke too soon.  It worked once.  The next PO had the same problem, cannot access the P/S type.  I cannot get the "allow service type PO" setting to stick.

Please advise.

Look at the BKYSMSTR file in Maintain Database and make sure you don't have 2 records.  There should be only one.

There is only one BKYSMSTR file for each company.
Other thoughts?

I just posted a new update that includes an updated PO-A, see if that one makes a difference.  I can't duplicate what you report here but we did do some things relative to the P/S field.

Lynn,
Ran the 1/30/04 update.  It did not resolve the P/S type in the purchasing module. We're getting way behind in PO's plus having to type extensive notes onto packing lists for vendors.  Please Help.
Thanks, Karen

Lynn,
Went into test company and here is what I have found.
If I add a PO and allow the system to select the next P.O. number, the type P/S is available.  If I put my own P.O.# in (which is what we generally need to do), the program skips the type field.

Hopefully this helps pinpoint the problem.
Karen

Lynn, UMC had the same problem with their POs a while back and genius-boy was able to fix for them. Ask him to run a comparison between the UMC run files and the current ISTech files. Shocked

BINGO!!  Thanks Karen, now we can fix it.  Lorne, the UMC fix we already tried but it forced the value to P which doesn't work for people who use Service type POs.  The key is Karen's observation that manually entered PO number is what causes the field to be bypassed.
