routings copied thru IN-B copy inventory item?
02/17/04 at 19:09:48

If you copy a part # thru IN-B is there anyway to copy the orignal part#'s routing in the same step?

or even anywhere on the same screen?

or do you have to go thru the whole routing process for the new "copied" part#?

Thanks,
Laura

If you create an estimate for part #1, then use ES-F to copy the estimate to a new part number, the BOM and Routing will also copy.  It will create the part number, BOM and Routing in one step.  One way to "fake out" the system.

Laura,

I may be missing the question, but here is what we do to copy a item and routing to a similar part.

Enter a new item in inventory -
Copy from old item to the new item in inventory -
Edit the the new item (description or whatever) -
In routing, call up the old item and copy to the new -
Edit changes in the new -
Go in to the BOM and add and edit this info. -

This works for us and saves us alot of typing or selecting routing templates and then editing.

We have always done it the way Rick & JW said.
But..... after I showed Johnny Lynn's " cheat " ....I could see the gears turning in that grey head.

Thanks Lynn!!!
