Recreating 99 Company
10/15/04 at 10:56:45

I am trying to recreate the 99 test data company that comes with DBA when you install it.  Somehow some time ago, the \tesdata folder got deleted.  I ran the DBA software install on another computer (2002.4) to expand the \tesdata files.  I tried to use this data in new company  that I created, but I get 3014 errors when I try to do anything in the company.  I'm pretty sure that there are some database file issues, so I wasn't suprised when this didn't work.
Our operations manager wants to look at the accounting data in the 99 company for reference.
Any ideas on how I should proceed?
TIA

Did you call the new company folder you created 99?

Tried it both ways... \99 and \testdata didn't work either way.

OK, well then, worst case scenario, I would copy your DBAMFG folder from the server over to the other system and then run MDBFXREG and create the data dictionary and then test it on that system, and if it works make a backup of the system from the server again (as the testing will take a bit of time and new data will have been created), and then copy the dbamfg folder from the other system to the server, then copy JUST the data folder for the live company from the backup and you should then be good to go! What you did should have worked -

In the existing DBA, go to UT-J, create a new 99 company and name the folder TESTDATA.  Do not copy from existing company.  You should then be able to get into the new empty company.  Presuming you can, then the next step is to copy all the data files from the testdata folder of the new install to this newly created folder.  That sounds like what you did.

Error 3014 is Can't Find the Engine which makes no sense that you would get it in only one company of a given DBAMFG folder.

Which would be why I used a worst-case approach. If THAT doesn't work, then I would say there are some sort of network communication problems between the client and the server....of some nature....
