NON DBA QUESTION:

I have searched Windows site, but cant find the answer, and yall are the smartest folks I know.

QUESTION: Some of our computers' file "view" defaults to icons, while others default to list and still others view as "details".

How do I get all the views on every computer (mostly XP pro & Win 98) to defualt to details?

Set the view of the current folder to the way you want it. Then go to Tools > Folder Options > View Tab. If desired, make any other changes you want there, and then click "Apply". Then click "Apply to all folders".

Of course you have to follow David's instruction on each machine. The Win98's will be a little different.

If you're looking for a global setting for your network, I don't think it can be easily done without using roaming profiles and your mixed environment might prevent it anyway.

Probably easy enough to set each machine the way you want it.
